URUGUAYAN STATE LAUNCHES SEARCH ENGINE
Uruguayans will have greater and better access to public information regarding the state’s services thanks to a specialized search engine that the government is implementing.
Accessing the state’s public information will be much easier from now on thanks to a new governmental initiative. Paperwork, questions, phone numbers and claims will be much easier to do or find now through Buscador.gub.uy, a definite step forward in the development of the e-government of our country.
The Electronic Government Agency and the Information society (Agesic) is the agency in charge of implementing this sophisticated search engine on the state’s web sites and those web sites that contain information that could be of public interest.
“The incorporation of these types of technology maximizes and powers personalized searches within the states dominion and assures the citizen’s access to the information needed in a quick and easy manner” explained Agesic.
According to Agesic, Buscador.gub.uy is implemented over Google Search Appliance (GSA), a server based on the google.com search engine. SmartLogic and Semaphoreare used, allowing some semantic to be given to the group of results returned by GSA.
The search engine is already available for its use in Beta Test mode, which implies that the final configurations are being worked on, design adjustments are being made and the quality of the results are being checked. The general public has access to the tool and can also contribute with suggestions at: contenidosPEU@agesic.gub.uy
Agesic informed yesterday that more than 300,000 pages had been annexed from different gub.uy dominions and more pages would be included as the revision process progresses.
