“La Casa Muda” will have a Hollywood remake.
The Uruguayan movie “la casa muda” will have its remake in USA, carried out by directors Chris Kentis and Laura Lau, the same people who made the successful movie “Open water” which told the story of a couple of scuba divers that were left behind at sea.
This version will be titled “The silent House” and will be protagonized by Elizabeth Olsen, younger sister of the famous twins Mary Kate and Ashley. She will be playing the part that was originally played by Florencia Colucci, a young woman who moves with her father to a new house in which strange things happen.
According to producer Gustavo Rojo, the new movie doesn’t make reference to any place in particular, but it will be like the original movie since it will be filmed in a single shot and with the same type of camera. The original movie cost a little over 6000 dollars.
Kentis and Lau decided to go back to cinema after seven years because they were “fascinated by the way in which the movie explores everything that leads to these brutal murders and the way in which the audience feels as if the story was happening to them, in a real way”.
"La casa muda" will premiere commercially in Uruguay on January 28th but the date may vary depending on other premiers.
